How to Set Yourself up to Become a Full Time RVer

Want to live cheaply? Want to see the country? Here's how.

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Recreational Vehicle
  • Adventurous Spirit
    • 1
Sell or rent out your house. This may sound drastic, but if you are going to make the commitment, this is a way to have more money.
    • 2
Join a camping club. Camping clubs offer large discounts on campgrounds. There are different types of camping clubs; find the type you enjoy.
    • 3
Get all your bills sent to you via email. And get set up to pay all your bills online, if possible. Most campgrounds now have internet access, so you don't need to set up a service for that.
    • 4
Obtain a forwarding address. This can be a commercial system or a relative that is willing to go through your mail for you. The relative should be able to pay any bills you cannot pay online.
    • 5
Put your goods (furniture, etc.) in storage.
    • 6
Make sure you have a way to get around when camping, whether in your RV or another vehicle. If your motorhome is small enough, you can live in it and drive it. Just remember that you'll have to put everything away each time you want to drive. A small car is very handy, though.
    • 7
Keep only 1 or 2 credit cards; one for gas, one for other stuff. Easier to keep track of them.
    • 8
Have a bank that has ATMs around the country, preferably one that doesn't charge you to withdraw money.
    • 9
Pack different kinds of clothes for the weather. Since you'll be traveling to different parts of the country, possibly where you've never been before, you should have clothes for hot, warm, cool and cold weather. Fewer clothes with more variety are best. There are Laundromats at most campgrounds. Have bedding for cold weather also since RVs do not have good insulation.
    • 10
Drive off! You're free to go anywhere you want
